Planning Initial ideas based on Short Film (Brief)

I have research some possible context for my final short film extract and I've come across with a thriller/melodrama american drama called 'Pretty Little Liars.' Its based on 4 different characters that are teenage girls and they keep on getting threatening and confidential messages that are private from an unknown sender, also referred to as 'A'.

As for our short film extract, I came across with doing a similar plot as we will be using mobile phones to convey and receive text messages from an unknown sender towards a victim, which it will be the main lead character for the short film extract intended. I will be using only one character instead of four, as seen on the teen drama above. I'm not too sure whether the main lead character will either be a male or a female as it's still undecided for now.

Furthermore, since we, as a team did not want any dialogue on our short film extract - we decided to use various and intense sound effects and tracks either from primary or secondary sources. This is because we do not want to waste any time writing down our ow scripts as we just want to straight away shoot the scenes and over record so we can have extra contingency time to improve our mistakes throughout the filming, editing and directing process system.

  1. Your blog has some strong research work in general, you have considered genre, audience and even posters with a good level of detail. Please make sure you have 3 relevant case studies though, the summer task goes some way towards case study 1, you could analyse a scene of 'Pretty Little Liars' as case study 2 and need to pick a 3rd. Now your group and ideas are more solid, this is useful research into genre, narrative, audience and techniques used.
